Ken May

Heading up VRICyber’s proactive efforts, Ken has the “Ethical Hacker” certification, which means he knows the playbook bad guys use. He’s been a resident of Ventura since 1999, and has 3 daughters and a son. He has a Masters Degree from SBCOM, a Bachelors in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College and has written 3 books and numerous articles. He has been Voted Top Channel Influencer of the SMBnation 150, and carries numerous certifications from HP, Microsoft, Cisco, SANS, Symantec, Dell and more. Recently, he was chosen by his peers to be elected to the CompTIA Managed IT Services Community Executive Council, where he will directly influence the education and guidance of their international IT community. Ken is also a Commissioner for the City of Ventura, CA, where he works to help promote the Arts in his community. He is CEO of Swift Chip.

He enjoys music, martial arts, movies and SCUBA diving. Mr. May strongly believes that it is important to be actively involved in the community, and that one should always try to keep the Big Picture and long term goals in mind when solving immediate-need issues, whether it be in business, community or one’s personal life.

Ken May’s certifications include: CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CSAP, GSEC, GCIH, GPEN, GAWN, etc.

John Troxel

John Troxel is on the reactive side of VRICyber, focused on incident response and data breaches. He also owns Verdict Resources, an investigations firm serving attorneys since 1996. He manages cases requiring technological expertise, including electronic discovery, computer forensics, online research and construction of project databases. John is frequently engaged to identify, collect, analyze and produce electronic evidence on digital storage media such as hard drives, cell phones, etc.; and qualified in California Superior Court to provide expert testimony. He is often asked to speak on issues relating to electronic evidence.

He has nearly 500 hours of specialized training with AccessData, NTI/Armour, Association of Certified Fraud Examiner’s Academy, High Technology Crime Investigation Association, Paraben Forensics and Techno Security. He received his California PI License #22186 in 1999, Professional Certificate in Computer Forensics from Oregon State University in 2003, and qualified as an AccessData Certified Examiner in 2007.
